Parker DC Drives and AC Inverters have long been widely applied in the packaging industry, especially for winding and unwinding systems, thanks to built-in diameter calculation and PID control functions.
Typical machines using Parker products include coating machines, gravure printers, extrusion laminators, dry laminating machines, and slitting systems.
COATING MACHINE PROJECT
In October, the engineering team from Kỹ Thuật Việt (KTV) successfully completed the installation of a control cabinet system for a coating machine.
The system includes six motors — four DC motors for the unwind and rewind units, and two AC motors for printing rollers.
Parker AC690 and DC590 drives were selected, both featuring integrated diameter calculation and PID control through function blocks for precise winding and tension control.
The total project duration was 6 days, including 3 days for hardware installation at KTV’s workshop.
♦ Day 1: Equipment Installation

♦ Day 2 & 3: Electrical Wiring and Hardware Setup

♦ Day 4: Moving Control Cabinet to Factory Site

♦ Day 5 & 6: Peripheral Connection and System Fine-Tuning

The rewinding unit operated with stable tension control, ensuring consistent winding quality without film breakage.

The unwinding section also maintained smooth and steady tension control, with minimal fluctuation in the tension meter readings.

Printing roller section – precise and stable during operation.

🏆 Project Outcome
The entire coating system now runs smoothly and reliably. Both winding and unwinding sections maintain stable tension, ensuring film quality and preventing breakage.
Machine speed reached 70 m/min, fully meeting production requirements.
The project was completed one day ahead of schedule, helping the client resume production promptly.
