Copper Drawing Machine: Key Components and System Upgrade
The copper drawing machine is a widely used device in the wire and cable industry. It functions to draw copper wires from large-diameter strands down to smaller diameters while also performing annealing to soften the copper wire. The primary components of the copper drawing machine include:
Drawing Unit: Depending on the machine model, there are typically 12 drawing capstans driven by either a single main motor or multiple motors. This unit reduces the large initial copper strand diameter to a smaller size.
Capstan: This is the final die that helps maintain stable tension before the wire enters the annealing unit.
Annealing Unit: A crucial part of the copper drawing machine, this stage softens the copper wire to stabilize material structure, enhance electrical conductivity, and increase ductility. The annealing process requires precise adjustment of voltage and current to ensure uniform copper color and prevent wire breakage.
Take-Up System: The take-up system consists of a bin take-up and a basket take-up, which operates with a PID calculation function. The PID feedback from the dancer mechanism ensures a stable winding process, minimizing wire breakage.
Control System Upgrade
Recently, Viet Engineering successfully installed an external excitation DC598P controller to replace the old annealing control system. The previous system exhibited voltage fluctuations that resulted in inconsistent copper wire color. The power section of the existing controller was retained to reduce costs.
Additionally, a DC590P 165A controller was installed for the basket take-up system, replacing the old, non-functional controller after extensive operation.
