The AC690+ can be configured for three operating modes:

- Open-loop (V/F) control: Ideal for basic motor speed control or parallel-driven motors. Quick setup and plain-text display ensure easy, trouble-free startup.
- Sensorless vector control: Uses MRAS (Model Reference Adaptive System) for high starting torque and accurate speed regulation without external feedback devices.
- Closed-loop vector control: Achieved by adding an encoder feedback module, providing 100% full-load standstill torque and highly dynamic speed control (up to 45Hz bandwidth).
